This ‘superglue’ treatment is performed using a technique very similar to RFA. Instead of delivering heat into the vein a glue is introduced causing the vein to block off. The main benefit of this technique is that in some patients compression stockings are not required after the operation. While this exciting technique has the potential to become more widely practised at present no long-term follow-up is available internationally. In addition, it is currently not covered for reimbursement by the major insurance companies so patients have to pay for the entire procedure.
