We have a particular interest in minimally-invasive, key-hole operations to treat varicose veins. The procedure is generally performed as a day-case procedure in one of three hospitals Bon Secours Glasnevin, Mater Private Eccles Street or St Josephs Raheny.

The patient is reviewed after the operation by Mr Peter Naughton and given a clear explanation of how the operation was completed and the expected recovery period is outlined. One of the major benefits of key-hole surgery is that the majority of patients can return to their exercise activities and work within a very short period of time. Experience shows that a clear explanation and discussion is most helpful to reassure and motivate patients to resume the daily activities as soon as possible.

Key-hole surgery performed in Vein Clinic Dublin is associated with significantly less pain in the recovery period. To ensure that recovery is as comfortable as possible simple measures to diminish and treat pain are discussed and explained before discharge. In addition, a written advice sheet containing important contact numbers is provided prior to discharge.
